Auxiliary Programs
2011-2012

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 is involved with and supports many different programs throughout the year. The following are representative programs demonstrating our commitment to the support of our active military, veterans and the community.

Americanism

  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 participates in the Pocket Flag Project. This project enables our active soldiers to carry a small flag in their pocket while on duty.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 teaches school children about the nation's flag and presents books and/or flags to their schools.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 sponsored two individuals for the Youth Good Deed Award this year.

Community Service

  • The American Legion Auxiliary 305 participates in various local community service projects, such as collecting pop-tops for the Ronald McDonald House and helping individuals register to vote, as well in providing an outlet for the community to support the active military.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary 305 has partnered with Kroger this year to collect items from the public to include in the soldiers care packages sent to Afghanistan and Iraq.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary 305 has also partnered with two churches, a local hardware store and four schools to write letters, cards and collect items for inclusion in the soldiers care packages sent to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Girls State

  • This year American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 is sponsoring two high school seniors from The Woodlands High School and two high school seniors from College Park High School to attend the Texas Girls State Program.

National Security

  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 supports numerous troops in Afghanistan and sends them monthly care packages.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary 305 clips pounds of coupons and sends them to commissaries at various military installations overseas.

Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation

  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 volunteers with various veterans programs at the local VA Clinics and DeBakey Medical Center.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 participates in the widely acclaimed poppy program. All proceeds from the poppy donations go directly to support our veterans programs.
  • The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 305 supports the American Legion Auxiliary Texas State project of Ride 2 Recovery. This is a program for disabled veterans that allows them to ride specific reconstructed bicycles from San Marcus to Dallas.
